We’re well on our way.

There’s no question that bringing a skatepark to Pacific Grove is an ambitious goal, but we’ve made some great progress. It may seem like things are moving slow, but working alongside the city and following the established steps for a Capital Improvement Project is the RIGHT WAY TO GO!

What we’ve done so far

• We worked with the City to allocate $158,000 of American Rescue Plan Act funding toward a skatepark. (The total cost of the skatepark will likely be over $750,000)
• We have encouraged community activism in our youth and continue to engage with our City officials through written and virtual correspondence and attending City Council meetings.
• City staff explored several locations and narrowed the locations to George Washington Park, a school parcel on Forest Lodge Road, David Avenue, and Arnett Park.
• We are at the PG Farmer’s Market to provide updates, answer questions, and spread some skatepark love in our local community through art and youth-focused activities.

What we’re working on next

• City staff will formally propose site selection to the Recreation Board February 23, 2023 and City Council (hopefully March 2023).
• The PGUSD School Board will discuss potential sites on school property after the City Council meeting
• We continue to plan skatepark meet-ups and events to encourage our youth to get out, get together, and have fun!
• When a location has been formally selected, we will ramp up our fundraising campaign to build this park.
